The European School of Economics (ESE) and The Florence Academy of Art (FAA) have come together to forge a partnership to offer students who are interested in business and visual arts a truly unique learning experience. During this 4-week summer intensive programme students will learn about the creative as well as the business aspects of art, along with skills to be able to competently approach both subjects.
The summer course is a full-time 4-week study programme from 29 June – 24 July 2020.
Language of Instruction: English
Students will attend the following 3 art business courses in the mornings at ESE Florence’s magnificent palazzo Rosselli del Turco located in the centre of Florence, Monday through Friday, 9.30 am – 11.30 am:
- Art Marketing & Business (two mornings/week)
- E-Business & E-Commerce (two mornings/week)
- Art Law or alternatively Entrepreneurship (one morning/week)
They will transfer in the afternoons to the FAA campus to attend 1 of the following Fine Arts workshops, Monday through Friday, 1 pm – 4 pm:
- Figure Drawing, the Academic Method, or
- Portraiture, Techniques and Traditions
During the first week of school, ESE & FAA will welcome students during an evening garden party at the Budini Gattai Palace. On weekends, students can take inspiration from the masterpieces around them by exploring world-famous museums and galleries in Florence such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia, Bargello Museum and the Pitti Palace, or explore the other artistic and cultural highlights of Tuscany.
The course includes:
Art Business courses: 2 hours of class per day (focused on 3 main art business subjects) resulting in a total of 40 hours full instruction in art business.
Fine Arts workshops: a total of 60 hours full instruction, all with the model, by individual critique. Beginning – Intermediate – Advanced welcome. Maximum enrolment 14 students. Two students per portrait model.
Welcome Party in the gardens of the Budini Gattai Palace, one guided visit to a museum in Florence, housing assistance, ESE School access 9.30 am – 5.30 pm (Monday-Friday), FAA studio access 9:00 am – 9:00 pm.
Recognition and credits:
For the art business part of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from ESE Florence upon successfully completing the course curriculum.
The university credits that students will earn upon completion of the fine arts workshop at FAA are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
Fees and Application process
The total fees for the complete Summer Course in Art Business & Visual Arts at ESE and FAA is EURO 5,400.
If you take the art business course part at ESE Florence only (i.e. 4 weeks, morning classes at ESE only) the fees are EURO 2,600 euro.
