The European School of Economics (ESE) continues its expansion and strengthens its presence in Italy by inaugurating a new, prestigious campus in the heart of Genoa. This opening represents not just physical growth, but embodies ESE’s ambition to establish itself as a benchmark for educational excellence in the city, a place to cultivate future leaders capable of combining ethics, vision, and pragmatism.

The official inauguration, held last April 4th, was the perfect manifestation of this vision. The event, titled “One Health Vision: Wellbeing & Blue Economy”, transformed the new premises into a vibrant center for dialogue, bringing together authoritative voices from the academic, institutional, and business worlds to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of our time.

A day of dialogue and shared vision

Opening the proceedings were institutional greetings, underlining the strategic value of the new ESE presence for the territory. Speakers included:

  • Barbara Minetti, Director of the Gaslini Academy
  • Donatella Lorato, Director of ESE Genoa and Milan campuses and the Department of Pedagogical Sciences
  • Sergio Gambino, Councillor for Security and Sustainable Mobility of the Municipality of Genoa
  • Federico Barbieri, City Councillor and President of the VI Economic Development Commission

The pulsating heart of the day were the five thematic panels, true immersions into crucial themes for future development:

  1. Digital Wellbeing & Cybersecurity: How to consciously navigate the digital age (Moderated by F. Barbieri).
  2. Ecological Transition, Innovation, and Sustainability: Conscious leadership as a driver of change (Moderated by G. Scapicchio, NEST).
  3. The Gentle Wellbeing of Hospitality: Redefining luxury and hospitality in human terms (Moderated by G. Borgna, Talassio Collection).
  4. Sport Tech and Sustainable Development: Technology and sport as levers for social and economic growth (Moderated by F. Picasso, Wylab).
  5. Blue Economy and Re-Generation: The sea economy as a strategic asset for Genoa and beyond (Moderated by C. Oliva, Genova Blue District).

These moments of discussion highlighted ESE’s interdisciplinary approach and its ability to create connections between different fields of knowledge, from technological innovation to environmental sustainability, from individual wellbeing to economic regeneration.

The ESE philosophy

Sealing the vision of the day and the profound meaning of the ESE mission was the speech by President and Founder, Elio D’Anna. Recalling the core concept of his book “The School for Gods” – “The world is as you are” – D’Anna reiterated that true transformation starts from the individual.

For ESE, education transcends the mere transmission of technical skills; it is an evolutionary path, an inner revolution aimed at forming integrated, aware, and responsible individuals. The goal is not only to prepare successful professionals but visionary leaders capable of creating a fairer and more inspired future.

The new Genoa campus is born precisely with this vocation: to be a “laboratory of awareness”, a place where students can not only learn but above all discover and transform themselves, becoming the true agents of change. It is ESE’s commitment to actively contribute to Genoa’s future, educating the conscious protagonists of tomorrow.
