ESE Students visit the Museum of Brands in London

Evocative and inspiring, the Museum of Brands is a kaleidoscope of images and iconic brands. With over 12,000 original items, the students discovered how well-loved brands evolved through their creative use of packaging and advertising – and how we evolved with them.

Our students were able to explore how brands shape our world in world’s largest collection charting 150 years of British consumer history. They were able to explore how well known brands such as Oxo, Marmite and Twinings have evolved since theVictorian times.

The Museum showcases the development of brands, packaging and advertising through displays of more than 12,000 items, posters, toys, games, fashion and technology.

Our students got an insight into British consumer society and culture revealed through the changes in social taste, the evolution of graphic design and the influences of events such as  WW11, the Suffrage Movement, the Queen’s Coronation and the 1966 World Cup.

A visit perfect for our students interested in social history, graphic design, marketing and branding.  They commented that their visit brought to light how brands and advertising play a part in our every day lives.  Our group were pleased to sit in the award winning garden and cafe and indulge in coffee and delicious cake!
